BENEFICIARY CONCERT

SMOMS benefit concert for children with rare diseases

On September 9, 2023, 7 p.m., the Swiss Medical Orchestra SMOMS invites you to a unique benefit concert for children and young people with a rare disease. Elina, blind and affected by the rare disease Peter's anomaly, will be the goosebump experience on stage at the Tonhalle Zurich.

The doctors from all over Switzerland are not only united by medicine - they want to do good with their passion for music. Supported by the internationally renowned soloist Alexia Voulgaridou and the conductor Philippe Bach, the Swiss Medical Orchestra will make the audience forget the world around them for a few hours with pieces by Richard Wagner, Richard Strauss and Sergei Rachmaninov. Our board member, Prof. Dr. med. Thierry Carrel is also a member of the orchestra and performs as a bass trombonist.

Ten-year-old Elina, affected by the rare disease Peters Anomaly, enchants the 1400 spectators in the large Tonhalle with her flute. Her passion for music gave her the strength to learn to write music for the blind. The young ambassador of the Förderverein has already had her wish for an electric tandem fulfilled by the Förderverein für Kinder mit seltenen Krankheiten.

SMOMS will donate the proceeds from ticket sales to the Support Association for Children with Rare Diseases, which has been supporting the 350,000 children and young people affected in Switzerland since 2014.
