Help and make it possible for Juri to remain a happy schoolchild

Juri has been through a lot in his young life, spent countless hours in hospital and experienced serious setbacks time and again. He is unable to attend a mainstream school, but at the "Rudolf Steiner School Zurich Oberland" he feels that he is in good hands and is accepted and valued by his friends and teachers just as he is. The dilemma: his single mother is unable to pay the school fees and receives no support from the state. "It would be a disaster for my son if he had to change schools," she says.

Yuri's life - ups and downs

Yuri is a baby when he suddenly develops a high temperature and suffers an epileptic seizure with loss of consciousness. He turns blue in the face and only breathes in bursts. The ambulance takes him to the children's hospital with flashing blue lights and an emergency doctor has to arrive on the way. The seizure lasts for over an hour and Juri's mommy fears for his life. They are very happy when Yuri recovers and is allowed to go home a few days later. Little did they know that the dramatic scenes would be repeated over 20 more times and that Yuri's health would remain in a constant state of ups and downs. Her whole life is turned upside down, the single mother is on call around the clock for her son, loses her job several times and thus her urgently needed income.

Yuri's single mom thanks you for your donation

Juri's strengths are his perseverance and his extraordinary bravery in not being discouraged by recurring setbacks. He has a big heart for people, nature and animals and is an imaginative child with lots of ideas. Juri attends just such a school, where these abilities are valued and encouraged. His friends are at this school, this school is good for him, he fits in there. It would be very sad if Juri had to be torn away from his familiar surroundings just because of the money. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your donation!

Support association for children with rare diseases
Around 350,000 children and young people in Switzerland are affected by a rare disease.

Everyday life for these families is characterized by uncertainty, especially when there is no diagnosis yet. The Support Association for Children with Rare Diseases has been working on behalf of affected children and their families since 2014. We provide direct financial support, create free family events (more than 2,200 family members were able to take part in 2019) to connect affected families and raise awareness of rare diseases among the general public. We rely on donations, legacies and patronage contributions to make this possible in the future.
